PCSB Image Updates from Mrs. Downes regarding 2013-2014 School Year
Dear parents,
There are a few things we would like to update you concerning the 2013-2014 school year.
Kindergarten registration begins on March 4.
Between April 8 through April 22: Parents can request another school besides their child's zoned school.
June 6: The district is urging parents to register their children for the 2013-2014 school year by this date.

Pinellas School Board members approved school opening and closing times for the 2013-14 academic year at the Feb. 12 School Board meeting. Beginning in August 2013, the student day at our school will begin at 8:35 a.m. and end at 2:35 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please note that “early release Wednesdays” have been eliminated for the NEXT school year.

Nutritional Guidelines Update
The USDA is proposing the new guidelines for Child Nutrition. The USDA is asking for comments from school districts, principals, staff and parents from now until April 9. You can submit your comments to Art Dunham in food services at dunhama@pcsb.org.

NewsPaperPC Changes to student login accounts
Beginning October 1, passwords will require at least one character from three of the four categories:

lower case alphabetic(a-z)
UPPER CASE ALPHABETIC(A-Z)
Numeric(0-9)
Special Characters (!@#$%^&*({}[])?)

EXAMPLE VALID
PASSWORDS: 99%IsGreat abc678AAA 906Yjkl FBE$$red

EXAMPLE INVALID
PASSWORDS: password Aabcdefg 1234567 !!ABCDE

You will be required to change your password to a complex password until the system alerts you that your old password is about to expire. At that point, you will need to enter a “complex” one.

PCS Student Accounts
All individual student accounts (K-12 AND ADULT) will automatically reset to their default password during the Spt. 29-30 weekend.

K-12 students’ default passwords for their “R2.D2” will be set to s.99999999. The 99999999s are the last 8 digits of their student number.

Individual adult student accounts will have the same default.

K-12 and adult student account passwords do not expire, so will not be required to change every 90 days.

Teachers can assist students who have questions about their passwords.

Parent Accounts
Parent account passwords do not expire and do not require a change every 90 days. If a password is changed, a complex password will be required.
Backpack Homework Helpline
District’s Homework Helpline offers homework help and guidance assistance
Pinellas County Schools has a great resource for students who need help with homework and families who have questions about guidance-related issues. Staffed by teachers who are certified in math, science, language arts and social studies, the district’s Homework Helpline offers free homework help for students in grades 1 through 12. Homework help is available at (727) 547-7223 from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday on all school days, except when there is no school the following day. The helpline is now being staffed with a certified guidance counselor who can answer general questions about promotion, graduation requirements, college and career guidance, and other important topics.
